The Congress in poll-bound Haryana is no less than a tinder box. Intense bickering and rampant groupism are taking their toll on the party in the state. Wednesday witnessed the strange spectacle of former PCC chief of Haryana, Ashok Tanwar, staging a massive dharna right in front of Sonia Gandhi's residence. He also made sensational comments that the party tickets in Haryana were being sold for Rs 5 crore. He said that injustice was being done to the loyal party workers, who have stood by the leadership during the hard times.
He further said that at least 14 former Congressmen were now BJP MLAs, Similarly, at least seven of the 11 MPs of the BJP in Haryana have a Congress background, he added. He also said that he was given offers for six times to join the BJP. He said all these offers came during the last three months. He said despite the offers, he has no intention of joining the BJP. 'I am a diehard Congressman and will remain one come what may. But, it pains to see that the honest and hard-working party workers were being ignored in the ticket distribution.
Haryana Congress is divided into at least three major factions. One of them is led by former CM Bhupinder Hooda, while present PCC chief Selja Kumari and Ashok Tanwar lead the other two factions. But, what is unprecedented is that the Congress workers have staged a dharna in front of Sonia Gandhi's residence.
