Keeping His Word, Haryana Health Minister Takes Covaxin Trial Dose

The Hyderabad based biotechnology company Bharta Biotech has kick-started its third phase of Covaxin, a vaccine being manufactured to cure the ongoing pandemic in Haryana on Friday.

As promised earlier, BJP leader and Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij took the Covaxin trial today. With this, he became the first volunteer to take the vaccine, developed by India.

News Agency ANI took to Twitter and shared a 24-second-long video. In the video, the Health Minister can be seen administering the trial dose of Covaxin. The trial dose took place at a hospital in Ambala.

The trial dose of Covaxin was conducted under the supervision of specialist doctors from Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences(PGIMS) Rohtag and Health Department.

Bharat Biotech which announced to conduct trials of Covaxin in 20 sites across the country has picked Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences in Rohtak and ESIC hospital in Faridabad to conduct trials in Haryana.

The third phase of Covaxin trials in Haryana came when India's Covid-19 tally surpassed the mammoth 9 million mark today after as many as 45,882 fresh infections were reported on Friday.
