Post the humiliating debacle in the GHMC elections, is the TRS still interested in reviving the anti-BJP Federal Front? The political pundits are hotly debating this. While one section says that the efforts towards cobbling up a Federal Front will pick pace, the other section says that KCR for now would be more focused on holding the crumbling bastion in his burrough of Telangana rather than further risking his bastion for pursuing a national ambition.
Adding grist to the rumour mill, former Karnataka chief minister and Janata Dal Secular leader HD Kumaraswamy said that Telangana CM KCR has called him up and sought a meeting with him. He said that KCR has talked about forming a Federal Front. Kumaraswamy said that he and his party were ready to join hands with KCR and would work to build an anti-BJP and anti-Congress Front. It may be recalled that ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in 2019, the TRS made efforts to forge a Federal Front and met Kumaraswamy on April 13, 2019.
This development assumes significance in the wake of reports that KCR was planning to move to national politics. However, the TRS sources have not confirmed the phone call. The TRS sources said that there was no information about KCR calling up the JDS leader. JDU has one MP in the Lok sabha and the TRS has nine seats.
