Has the Central government given a free hand to Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan? What explains her new-found aggressive approach? Why is she openly taking on the Telangana Government and is criticizing its actions? Does this mean that there is going to be a more aggressive confrontation between the Raj Bhavan and the Pragathi Bhavan in Telangana?

Ever since she returned from Delhi after meeting the Union Home Minister, Governor Tamilisai has become more aggressive in her approach. She has been repeatedly criticizing the TRS government and has specifically explained why she rejected the file pertaining to Huzurnagar TRs leader Padi Kaushik Reddy’s candidate for nominated MLC post.

Sources say that the Central government has given her a go ahead and has asked her to go hammer and tongs against the TRS government. It has also asked her to file regular reports about the happenings in the state. She has also been asked to carefully go through every gazette notification that comes up for her scrutiny and assent. This only means more trouble for the ruling TRS in the state. The Governor has already taken on the state government over issues such as inept handling of Covid 19 outbreak, Padi Kaushik's nomination and other such issues.

She is likely to raise several constitutional questions to put the KCR government in a spot of bother. An unfriendly and aggressive governor would only mean more trouble for the already beleaguered TRS, which is facing anti-incumbency over paddy procurement, job notifications and others.
