Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is an ebullient man. He makes sharp remarks and shoots criticism like one shoots arrows. He uses punchlines to attack opponents. But, on Friday evening, he looked quite mellowed. The reason? The realisation that the Muslims of Delhi may not have voted for the AAP candidates. The Muslims, reports indicated, have voted for the Congress in a big way in Delhi. This means, the BJP will win big in Delhi and the AAP will lose big time.
Confirming this, Arvind Kejriwal said he has reports that the Muslims of Delhi have voted for the Congress in a big way. The Congress is estimated to have up to 7-9 per cent votes in Delhi and with the addition of the Muslim vote, it could jump up to 11-13 per cent. This is split the anti-BJP vote significantly. This would be music to the ears of the BJP, which wants to win all the seven seats one more time.
But, the question is â why did Muslims vote for the Congress and is it a nation-wide phenomenon. If this is a nation-wide phenomenon, the Congress will perform better and the non-BJP, non-Congress parties would be in for a shock. If this happens in UP too, then the SP-BSP combine could suffer serious losses and the BJP may make big gains.
