The Telugu Film Industry is one of the biggest industries in the country. It took several decades and a hell lot of effort to reach the position where it is now. The first major step in this was Industry shifting to Hyderabad from Chennai. Legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao aka ANR played a pivotal role in this.
Later, when Telangana was carved out of combined Andhra Pradesh, the industry bigwigs made efforts to develop the shore city Vizag as well. However, no big impact happened. Recently, the industry is focusing on Hyderabad and Telangana itself for shootings and film events.
When the movie ticket issue erupted in Andhra Pradesh, a delegation from the industry-led by Megastar Chiranjeevi met the Andhra Pradesh government.During the same, the industry was invited by the government to set up studios in Vizag and they will be supported well.
After the invitation was sent, several media reports emerged saying that Chiranjeevi is likely to construct a studio in Vizag and the talks are underway for the same. However, Chiranjeevi had cleared the air on the reports.
The undisputed king of Tollywood, Megastar Chiranjeevi had ruled out the news and said that he has no such intentions as of now. Having said that, the Acharya actor said that he did not think about setting up any studio in the shore city Vizag.
"There is a proposal from the government regarding the Vizag studio. But I have no thought about it so far. But I am one among those who want the film industry to develop in AP as well," the veteran actor said.
His comments hint that CM Jagan Mohan Reddy's dream of developing the shore city Vizag as a major film hub might not come true in the coming days. The city has only one studio, which is Ramanaidu studio and the establishment is not functioning.
New studios are not coming and the industry is not giving much importance to Andhra Pradesh compared to the importance it is giving to Telangana. Without this, the dream remains a dream and the government might have to wait for a long time for this.
