Controversial cricketer, former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin is using all the options to see the decision taken by the Apex Council to expel him as the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) President. As his last option, the Hyderabadi cricketer had moved the Supreme Court challenging the Apex Council's decision.Azharuddin filed a petition along with Ombudsman Deepak Varma.
Hearing the petition, the Apex Court said it is supporting the decision taken by the Apex Council in the HCA chief position row and directed Azharuddin to step down from the post. With the top court giving the directives, he has no option left except for following the Court orders.
The HCA and Azharuddin are at loggerheads after the Apex Council had sacked him from the chief post saying that he is taking decisions that go against the interests of the association. He was removed as HCA Chief in February this year. He was also slapped with a show-cause notice.
Not happy with this, Azharuddin held a press meet to express his dissatisfaction. He asked how come the chief of a cricket association can be removed with any proper reason. Hitting back at Azharuddin, the Apex Council said, they took the decisions as per the recommendations of the Lodha Committee.
Azharuddin had moved the Telangana High Court and the Supreme Court challenging the Apex Council's orders. However, the Apex Council has the last laugh in the end with the Supreme Court issuing orders that Azharuddin should step down from his post.
