The severe heat wave in the past one week has already caused huge damage in Andhra Pradesh. Official figures released by the State Government say about 551 people succumbed to death till May 25th.
In Guntur District alone, The death toll claimed the lives of 104 people. Most death were reported in East Godavari (90), Vizianagaram (84), Visakhapatnam (61) and Prakasam (57) districts.
Meteorological Department says maximum temperature of 47 degree celsius was recorded on Sunday in Kakinada, Chitoor and other places. The high temperature will continue till May 29th and there could be some relief from thereafter.
Deputy CM Nimmakayala Chinnarajappa announced State Government has took the decision to offer Rs 1 lakh ex-gratia to the kin of the deceased.
