Hyderabad High Court on Thursday struck down the resolution passed in AP Assembly suspending YSR Congress MLA Roja from the House for a period of one year.
Supreme Court's senior lawyer Indira Jai Singh appeared as Roja's Counsel during the hearing of the case. An order was passed allowing Roja to attend the ongoing Budget Sessions. The next hearing will take place 4 weeks later.
YSR Congress legislator RK Roja was suspended from Assembly for one year after she made objectionable remarks against AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. However, Roja faulted the decision saying Speaker have the power to suspend a member for only one session.
Initially, Roja moved a petition in High Court seeking revoke of suspension against her. However, High Court didn't accept the petition. When Roja knocked the door of Supreme Court, The Apex Court expressed anger on High Court over the issue and warned action against HC Assistant Registrar. So, High Court accepted the petition on Wednesday and gave a favorable decision for YCP MLA after the arguments.
