Online Rummy Games: High Court serves notice to Virat Kohli, Tamannah, and few others!

The Kerala High Court heard a petition pertaining to the online rummy games on Wednesday and slapped notices to personalities who have endorsed the online fantasy games.

According to the information, the HC has sent notices to Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Mollywood actor Aju Varghese, Bahubali star Tamannah Bhatia and other ambassadors of the online games.In the notices served to these personalities, the High Court in God's Own Country asked them the reason to promote the online rummy games.

The issue reached the High Court after the Thrissur police knocked on the doors of the court by filing a Public Interest Litigation(PIL). The cops found fault with the celebrities for endorsing the online games which promote online gambling.

In the Public Interest Litigation(PIL), the Thrissur police claimed that due to the online games, several people have lost their lives and cited the recent examples where two youths ended their lives.

Earlier in November 2020, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court issued notices to Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli for promoting the fantasy games. The Court expressed its dissatisfaction with the celebrities promoting the apps.
