The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) served a notice to Congress President Rahul Gandhi seeking clarity over his nationality. This happened within hours after BJP MP Subramanian Swamy alleged that the Congress Chief is a British National.
In the notice, MHA mentioned that Rahul Gandhi declared he is a British National in an annual return submitted by British Company named Backups Ltd few years ago. 14 Days period was offered for Mr.Gandhi to respond over the issue.

'Rahul's Date of Birth was mentioned as June 19th, 1970 and Nationality as British in the annual returns filed by the company in 2006. Even the dissolution application moved on February 17th, 2009 shows the nationality of Gandhi as British,' he told.
Congress opined the nationality row involving Rahul Gandhi is politically motivated. The National Party informed Mr.Gandhi will offer his reply to the notice served by MHA legally.
