Both the ruling YSRCP and the Telugu Desam fell head over heels in supporting the Central Government's move to repeal Article 370 and Article 35 A which gave a special status to the Jammu and Kashmir. They competed with one another in backing it. The three TDP MPs in Lok Sabha and the two in Rajya Sabha voted in favour of it. The YSRCP too did the same.
But, they do not seem to be realising that with one stroke, they have killed the demand for the special status with one stroke. Now, after voting against the special status to JK, can they demand for special status to Andhra Pradesh? The worst part is that the YSRCP can no longer criticise the TDP for doing nothing on this issue. Similarly, the TDP too cannot blame the YSRCP anymore for not succeeding in getting special status for AP.
In effect, all these years of agitation for special status have come to an end. There will be no more demands for special status for AP. So, who ended up as fools? The people of Andhra Pradesh, who believed in these parties.
