How Piyush Goel silenced T Minister Prashant Reddy?

The Union Minister for Food Security Piyush Goel has categorically and unequivocally said that the Central Government will not procure paddy from Telangana in the present system. He said that the Centre will purchase rice but not unmilled paddy.

However, Telangana minister Prashant Reddy, who met Piyush Goel on Thursday, demanded that the Central Government  purchase paddy. Goel said that the Centre would not buy paddy. Prashant Reddy sought to know why the Centre was purchasing rice from Punjab and not from Telangana. To this, Goel said that the government would buy rice from Telangana if they too adopt the same process as that of Punjab.

At this Prashant Reddy said that there would be some broken rice in the milled paddy and that the Centre should buy that. To this, Goel said that the Centre will buy only that which sells. He said that the Centre was ready to buy milled rice free of broken rice. He said that paddy has to be procured by the State Government alone.
