Huge note books ⦠that's what the ballot papers for the Graduate MLC constituency elections are going to look this time! With a large number of candidates in the fray in both the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda and Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagr Graduate constituencies, the ballot papers would look like notebooks.
There would be as many as 72 candidates in the Nalgonda constituency, while the number of candidates in the Hyderabad constituency is 92. This only means that the ballot papers would be bigger. Also, unlike the MLA election, the voters have to indicate their preferences in the MLC elections. As a result, the voter will have to flip through every page to identify and indicate their choice. This sure is going to take a longer time. Sources say each voter would have to take more than five minutes to cast their vote. So, the candidates are telling the voters to remember their number in the ballot.
But, the bigger problem is with the ballot boxes. The ballot boxes will have to be specially made. Since the ballot paper would be larger in side, the ballot bosses will have to be bigger. They need to be big enough to hold the votes.
