How UP's Bulldozer Model is Creating Havoc in National Capital?

Update: 2022-04-20 12:22 GMT
The recent violence in the national capital Delhi on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanthi gave an opportunity for Uttar Pradesh's Bulldozer politics to reach Delhi. Alleging that there are many illegal constructions in  Jahangirpuri, the civic body had decided to take down the constructions.

By the morning, the civic body had started the encroachment drive, to take down the illegal constructions. Many constructions were taken down. Seeing the tense situation, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court saying that the drive is intended to target the Muslim community.

As a big relief to the locals of the Jahangirpuri area, the Supreme Court had issued a stay order saying that the demolition drive should be stopped as it is and the court will hear the petition on the matter tomorrow.

The Bulldozer politics had started in Uttar Pradesh. Even in the election campaign, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flaunted the bulldozer model and alleged that the government is ready to take action against the rioters.

Later, the model made its way to Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and a few other BJP-ruled states. Despite not being in power in the national capital, BJP is in power in the civic body. Using the same power, the body called for the demolition drive. If not for the Supreme Court's orders, the civic body would have taken down many more constructions.
