Huge Surge In Indian Students Studying In Aus

A massive surge of 24.5 percent was observed in the enrolment in Australian Educational Institutions by Indian Students in 2018. Around 1.08 lakh Indians enrolled in 2018, constituting 12.8 percent of the total international students. In 2017, About 86,966 enrolments took place.

China continues to hold the top position with 2.56 lakh students in Australia, which accounts to 29 percent of the total enrolments. There are altogether 7.96 lakh international students in Australia.

Australia introduced 'Additional Temporary Graduate' visa which permits an extra year of post-study work rights for International Students. This is applicable for only those who does their graduation from a regional campus of the registered University.

The agenda of Australia is to attract more International Students and also to decongest popular areas of Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast with the 'Additional Temporary Graduate' visa. Students opting for it have the possibility of obtaining permanent residency if they wish to settle in regional areas.

PM Scott Morrison announced New Tertiary Scholarships to motivate Australian and International Students to study in regional Australia. These scholarships worth $15,000 are going to be provided for 1,000 Students every year.
