Taking a serious note on the complaint filed over the alleged negligence while treating Telugu journalist who succumbed to the dreaded virus this month, the Telangana State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) directed the state-run Gandhi Hospital to submit a report in this regard.
This development in the case came after, petitioner Amarendar Rao complained to the SHRC. The petitioner said that the negligence and irregular treatment resulted in the journalist losing his life for the virus.
In the complaint, the complainant maintained that in the isolation ward, the victim was barely attended to and he was not even provided with an oxygen cylinder when he had complications in taking a breath.
Amarendar Rao, who lodged the complaint on behalf of the 'Journalist Forum for Telangana', requested the SHRC to direct the concerned authorities to grant a compensation of Rs 1 crore to the victim's family as he is survived by aged parents. He also demanded a job for the victim's wife.
