The devastating situation was reported in the Telangana capital Hyderabad. A 54-year-old person Madhusudhan, who hails from Saroornagar had come in contact with Covid-19 recently. His wife and son were also infected with the deadly virus. The trio was admitted to a private facility in the city.

While admitting them, the hospital authorities asked them to pay Rs 15 lakhs for the treatment, which translates to Rs 5 lakhs per patient.

The elderly man's wife Manjula and son Parthasarathy have beaten the respiratory disease and recovered from it. The duo was discharged from the hospital; after paying Rs 10 lakhs. As he didn't recover from the virus, he was not discharged.

As per the media reports, the hospital management reportedly told Madhusudhan that in order to get released from the hospital, he should pay the balance amount. Unable to pay the amount, he reportedly took his life by jumping from the second floor of the hospital building.

After the victim jumped from the building, he was rushed to another hospital for treatment. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment. A police case has been registered and the investigation is underway.
