Hyderabad police to have 'eye in the Sky' soon

Update: 2022-06-27 04:36 GMT
If all goes well, the Hyderabad police could soon operate a host of multi-rotor drones to keep an eye on the city. The drones would be the police department's eye in the sky. These drones would track vehicular movement and law and order related activities. The drones can also keep an eye on the crime activities and track down criminals on the run.

If sources in the Hyderabad police department are to be believed, the police have successfully monitored the lockdown in the city using drones during the first and the second phase of the Covid and were encouraged by the results. As of now, drones are being used to ferry across medicines and provide medical assistance in remote areas. But, efforts are said to be on to use them for policing purposes.

Sources say that ground command and control systems are being developed to operate drones for a distance of up to three to four miles in the city. These will be used to keep track of the activities of targeted persons. The police sources say that drones could play a key role in monitoring the traffic jams in the city also.

If sources are to be believed, the Hyderabad police are trying to impart training to the drone operators to take up surveillance and monitoring related activities. The sources said that the drones would be the police department's eye in the sky.  If sources are to be believed, efforts are on to build coordinate with the CCTV monitoring mechanism of the city police.
