A tense situation aroused at public greenspace Indira Park in Hyderabad after the authorities of the park have found out that as many as thirteen sandalwood trees in the park went missing.
Media reports claimed that not less than thirteen sandalwood trees have been chopped and smuggled the tries to other areas. The management of the park has swung into action immediately.
A police case in this regard has been registered with the Gandhinagar police and the investigation is underway. The preliminary investigation pointed out at alleged collusion with the park staff with smugglers.
It is believed that the sandalwood trees were chopped on Sunday, but the news was out on Wednesday, i.e, November 11th. After chopping the trees, the logs were smuggled to other places.
Sandalwood smuggling incidents are not new to Hyderabad. Earlier too, similar smuggling incidents were reported in Kasu Brahmananda Reddy(KBR) National Park and other parks.
