ICC grants time to BCCI till 28 June to take a final call on the tournement!
ll the eyes are now on the T20 World Cup 2021, as to whether India can host the tournament or not given the prevailing situations in the country. The global cricket governing body, the ICC has reportedly asked the BCCI to take a call on this.
It is said that in a meeting that was held virtually, discussions over holding the tournament in India were held and BCCI sought some more time from the ICC to take a call on the T20 tournament. ICC agreed to this and granted time till June 22 reportedly.
Though BCCI is showing its interest in hosting the tournament, the prevailing situations are posing a big challenge, forcing the board to think twice about the tournament. Due to the Covid threat, the IPL was also suspended halfway.
Media reports claimed that, as a safe side, the ICC had opted to fix UAE as the venue for the tournament. If BCCI says, it cannot host the tournament, UAE will be announced the host of the tournament, as per the reports.
BCCI is exploring all the possible options to see that the T20 tournament is hosted in India. But with the popular belief that the third wave of Covid might also enter India, we have to see what BCCI has in mind.
We will get more information and clarity on this, once the BCCI informs its final decision on the T20 World Cup to ICC. Let us wait and see.
