In a shocking development, Indiaâs coronavirus caseload jumped to 21,50,431 on Saturday with the highest single-day spike of 65,410 fresh infections.
This is the third day in a row that India has reported a daily rise of more than 60,000 Covid-19 cases. On a positive side, the number of recoveries surged to 14,27,005 and the recovery rate rose to 68.32 per cent while the death toll reached 43,453.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the five most affected states by a total tally of cases are Maharashtra (5.03 Lakh), Tamil Nadu (2.79 Lakh), Andhra Pradesh (2 Lakh), Karnataka (1.5 Lakh), and Delhi (1.4 Lakh).
Globally the cases from the deadly infection rose to 19,794,206 with 7.19 lakh deaths have been reported so far.
