India Loses To Hosts Despite Decent Score On Board!

The 50 Over World Cup Tournament is one year away and the Indian team is seeing the ongoing tour of New Zealand as a practice for the big tournament. New players were given a chance in the squad to test their skills.

But the practice did not go as planned as India lost the first ODI against the blackcaps. Despite putting a good score on the board the Shikhar Dhawan-led team lost the match. Hosts New Zealand won the match by seven wickets.

Openers Shubman Gill and captain Shikhar Dhawan gave a solid start to India's innings and put up a 124-run opening partnership. This helped India post a decent score of 306 for the loss of seven wickets. Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer had another good partnership in the middle. India would have scored a big score if Surya Kumar Yadav lasted long in the crease.

Tom Latham and Kane Williamson engineered the run chase with sensational knocks of 145 runs and 94 runs respectively. The duo made sure that the Indian bowlers would not get the upper hand.

IPL Sensation Umran Malik made his ODI debut with today's match. He breathed fire on the ground with his deliveries and made it tough for the batsmen. In his quota of 10 overs he gave just 66 runs and took two wickets.

Umran Malik is one of the fast bowlers we got to know with the IPL. His speed of 150 was unanimous and he used to get Rs 1 lakh for every match for the fastest delivery.
