India Now 2nd Largest Arms Importer In The World!

Update: 2019-03-12 12:12 GMT
In the period from 2014 to 2018, India has dropped to second position in the list of World's Largest Arms Importer after remaining at the top for almost a decade. Indian Arms Imports account for 9.5 percent of the global total during NDA rule.

Saudi Arabia claimed Top Spot with 12 percent Arms Imports. Other Nations in the Top 10...Egypt (5.1 percent), Australia (4.6%), Algeria (4.4%), China (4.2%), UAE (3.7%), Iraq (3.7%), South Korea (3.1%), Vietnam (2.9%) and Pakistan (2.7%). Ranking were offered by global think-tank Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) based on the available data.

Unfortunately, NDA Government which launched 'Make In India' failed to make any attempts of taking up major defence production projects such as making fighter jets, choppers and submarines in the past 5 years. Instead, Rs 59,000 crore were offered for 36 Rafale Jets from France and Rs 40,000 crore were paid for S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile systems from Russia.

Over dependance on Defence Imports is a failure of the rulers. What if imports were stopped at the time when there is a conflict with nations?
