India Overtook Brazil To Emerge As The World's Second-Worst-Hit Nation

In a shocking development, India reported the highest spike of cases in a single day with over 90,000 cases taking the total cases to over 42 lakh-mark.

In the last 24 hours, India reported as many as 90,802 fresh Corona infections. With this, total infections in India rose to 42,04,613. India overtook Brazil and turned out as the second worst-hit nation in the world.

According to the information provided by the Union Health Ministry, 71,642 patients breathed the last breath battling the respiratory disease so far including 1016 patients losing their lives in a single day.

Along with the fresh cases, India reported the highest recoveries in the last 24 hours so far with 69564 taking the total recoveries to a whopping 32,50,429. The active cases stood at 8,82,542.

In less than one month the COVID infections got doubled in the country. While the case count surpassed 20 -lakh mark, as on September 5th the count mounted to over 40 lakh.

Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu are the top worst-affected states in the country. These states hold the lion share of the total cases.

Globally, over 27 million patients were diagnosed with the ongoing pandemic, while more than 19.2 million patients managed to recover from the virus. Over 884,000 patients succumbed to the virus.
