India registers less than one lakh new cases since the emergence of the second wave

Maintaining a steady decline in daily covid cases, India reported less than one lakh new infections after almost 63 days, the data shared by the Union Health Ministry stated.

As per the data, as many as 86,498 fresh people were found infected with the contagious disease in the past 24 hours. The new addition of cases pushes the total number of Covid infections in the country to 28,996,949.

On the other hand, 2,115 individuals succumbed to novel Coronavirus in 24 hours and the total Covid-related deaths in the country have zoomed to 351,309. India reported fewer single-day fatalities in nearly one and a half month period.

Tamil Nadu had once again reported the highest number of cases with 19,448, followed by Karnataka (11,958), Kerala(9,313), Maharashtra (10219), West Bengal(5887), and Andhra Pradesh (4872).

The data shared by the Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR) said, as of June 8, 36,82,07,596 samples have been tested, while 18,73,485 samples were tested across the states on Monday.

Looking at the vaccine numbers, over 23.61 crore vaccines, 23,61,98,726 doses to be precise have been given to the beneficiaries, since the nationwide vaccination drive was started.

Looking at the global scenario, the total case count rose to over 174.3 million, while 3,751,821 have lost their lives to the virus. The United States, India, Brazil, France, and Turkey are the top five worst-affected nations across the globe.
