India Reported 62,538 Fresh Cases, Total Cases Surpass 2 Million-Mark

The spread of the ongoing pandemic continues to ring the danger bells in India as the country has been reporting the highest spike of fresh cases in a single day. India yet again reported the highest single-day cases.

In the last 24 days, India reported 62,538 fresh infections of the respiratory disease and the total cases in the country mounted to over 2 million-mark with a total of 20,27,075 cases.

On the other hand, 49,769 fresh recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours which takes the total recoveries in the country to 13,78,105. The active cases stood at 6,07,384.

With 886 people losing their lives to the dreaded virus in the last 24 hours, the total fatalities in connection with the respiratory disease zoomed to 41,585.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh are the worst-affected states in the country with the virus outbreak. These states account for nearly 60 percent of the total cases.

Globally, 271,577 fresh cases were reported in a single day and the total infections mounted to 19.94 million with 19,257,726 cases while the dreaded virus has claimed 716,519 lives across the states so far.

The United States which is the worst-affected nation in the world added more than 2,000 fatalities and 58,000 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. The total cases surpassed 5 million-mark in the nation.
