Update: 2021-05-20 11:14 GMT
Everything related to Coronavirus cases and fatalities in India is news. The rise in single-day cases is the news and the downfall in single-day cases and casualties is also news. As a piece of good news, the cases are coming down gradually.

Maintaining a steady decline in single-day cases, India witnessed less than three lakh cases for the first month in nearly one month. In the past 24 hours, India reported not less than  2,76,110 new infections.

Including the new cases reported in 24 hours, the total number of infections caused by the deadly respiratory disease in the country rose to 25,772,440.  The active cases count stands at 31.29 Lakh.

Since the second wave of novel Coronavirus has started in India, more than three lakh cases have been reported daily. After three lakh-mark, India reported more than four lakh cases four times.

On the other hand, single-day fatalities are also following a downtrend. On May 20, India reported 3,874 new deaths, taking the total Covid deaths count to 2,87,122.

As a result of fewer single-day cases, the list of severely hit states has also come down to six from ten. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, AP, and West Bengal are the six severely hit states.

Tamil Nadu reported the highest cases in 24 hours with 34,875, followed by Karnataka(34,281), Maharashtra(34,031), Kerala(32,762), Andhra Pradesh(23,160) and West Bengal(19,006).

However, low vaccine numbers is a big worry for India. As per the Union Health Ministry, 18,70,09,792 beneficiaries were vaccinated against the pandemic. India is procuring vaccine doses from other nations so that the vaccination drive can be carried out with a break.
