India Reports Over 19,000 Cases In 24 Hours

In a shocking development, India reported 19,459 fresh infections and 380 casualties in the past 24 hours. With this, the total cases and fatalities in connection with the virus zoomed to 548,318 and  16,475  respectively.

As per the data released by the Union health ministry, 12,010 people managed to recover from the respiratory disease in the past 24 hours taking the total toll of the recovered cases in the country to 321,722.

The recovery rate of patients from the contagious disease is increasing gradually which currently stood at 58.67%. On the other hand, there are 210,120 active cases of the virus in the country.

As a bid to bring the conditions under control, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has been observing new techniques to conduct tests as well as increasing the count of laboratories.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated that as many as 84 lakh samples were tested in India ever since the pandemic entered the country and 1.7 lakh samples were tested on Sunday alone.

Looking at the global scenario, the cases surpassed the 1 crore-mark, while the fatalities in connection with the respiratory disease surged over 5 lakh. The US continues to be the worst-affected nation in the world which currently has around one-fourth of the total cases with over 25 lakh infections and 1.25 lakh fatalities.
