India Reports Over 78,000 Cases In 24 Hours, Toll Reached Over 37 Lakh

The ongoing pandemic continues to ring the danger bells in India as the country has been reporting around 70,000 fresh cases daily for some time. As the latest development, India reported over 78,000 fresh cases.

As per the information provided by the Union Health Ministry, with India reporting 78,357 fresh Coronavirus cases in a single day, India's count of total infections rose to 37,69,523.

On a brighter note, a total of 29,01,908 patients have been recovered from the virus so far. This translates to a whopping recovery rate of 76.98 percent. The active cases stood at 801282.

India reported over 1,000 fatalities in a single day with 1045 people losing their lives. With this, the total fatalities in connection with the pandemic mounted to 66333. India has a mortality rate of 1.8 percent.

Maharashtra which has the 8,08,306 COVID-19 cases and 24,903 deaths continues to be the worst hit-state in India followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.

Looking at the global scenario, the ongoing pandemic has left more than 2.57 crore patients infected with the virus. So far, more than 8.56 lakh patients have succumbed to the virus globally.
