India witnessed a sharp rise in the fresh Coronavirus infections as 86,821 new cases were detected in the past 24 hours. Compared to yesterday, India added over 6,000 more cases.
According to the Union Health Ministery data, with the 86,821 fresh infections, India's caseload surpassed the 63-lakh mark and rose to 63,12,585.
India saw a dip in recoveries with 85,376 patients beating the virus. With a recovery rate of 83.5 percent, a total of 52.7 lakh patients have been recovered so far. The active cases stood at 9,40,705.
With 1,181 patients breathing their last in the past 24 hours, the total COVID-19 casualties zoomed to 98,678. India has a mortality rate of 1.6 percent.
Telangana added 2,214 new infections in the past 24 hours and the total toll of the infections in the state rose to 1,93,600. So far 1135 patients have succumbed to the virus.
Andhra Pradesh reported 6,133 new cases on Wednesday, which pushes the total toll of cases to 6,93,484. The virus has claimed 5780 lives in the state so far.
Looking at the global scenario, 34,146,369 patients have contacted the virus so far. While 25,409,820 patients have beaten the virus, 1,018,173 patients succumbed to the contagious disease.
