Indian-American Nominated As A Judge For Highest Court For Washington DC
US President Donald Trump has nominated an Indian-American counsel as the Associate Judge of the apex court in the State of Washington in the United States.
Going into details, the Indian-American advocate Vijay Shanker, who is serving as the Senior Litigation Counsel in the Department of Justice, Criminal Division, and Deputy Chief of the Appellate Section was nominated as the Associate Judge of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
The nomination has been made by the United States President for a period of not less than 15 years.
Donald Trump has sent the nomination for the concerned Senate and the confirmation from the senate is awaited. Once the confirmation comes, Vijay Shanker will serve as the Associate Judge.
He has joined the Department of Justice in 2012. Before this, he rendered his services as a law clerk to Judge Chester J. Straub on the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
