Drastic Drop in H-1B Visa Filing

Update: 2018-04-04 09:36 GMT
Indian IT Firms have cut down the number of H-1B visa filings drastically for the year 2018-19. Tough scrutiny & other measures taken by Trump Administration could be the reason behind negative trend. Not only the Companies, Even the Employees are showing reluctance to work for US Firms

As per Scott FitzGerald, H-1B Visa Petitions by Indian IT Companies fell by 50 percent when compared to the recent years.

After Trump was elected as US President, Rejection rate of H-1B Visas and renewals has risen sharply. Due to increased scrutiny, IT Firms have to spend higher legal fees because of the role lawyers would play in the audit of the checklist for visa filings. Even this factor encouraged Indian Companies to limit the number of petitions.

70 percent of the H-1B Visas are bagged by Indians every year. This situation could be changing with most Indian Firms setting up development centres in US for hiring local talent.
