Indians Bagged Over 74 Percent H-1B Visas

As per official data, Indians managed to obtained over 74 percent of the total H-1B Visas sanctioned by the US in the past two years. While 74.2 percent of H-1B visas were grabbed by Indians in 2016, This has increased to 75.6 percent in 2017.

China is at second spot with 9.3 and 9.4 percent H-1B Visas for 2016 and 2017 respectively.

As per USCIS, Count of Indians obtaining initial employment fell by 4.1 percent in fiscal 2017. Whereas, Number of beneficiaries approved for continuing employment increased by 12.5 percent in fiscal 2017. While 70,737 Indians received H-1B visas in 2016, This dropped to 67,815. 185,489 Indians were permitted to continue employment in 2016 and this increased to 276,423 in 2017.

While Number of H-1B Visas filed increased from 398,718 in 2016 to 403,675 in 2017, H-1B Petitions approved increased from 345,262 in 2016 to 365,682 in 2017.

Drop in the number of H-1B Visas for Indians for the financial year 2018-19 is going to be a concern.
