The spread of the dreaded virus originated from the Dragon country China reached an alarming level with India reporting the highest spike of infections in a single day with 17,296 cases.
With this, the total infections in the country rose to 490,401 and slowly inching towards the 5 lakh- mark
As per the information provided by the Health Ministry, 407 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours, taking the toll of the total fatalities of the virus to 15,301.
On the other hand, 13,940 patients recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours and the total recovery cases mounted to 285,636. As of now, the recovery rate stood at 58.24%.
Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Haryana turned out to be the worst-hit states in the country in terms of infections of the virus. To date, 10 states have more than 10k cases.
Looking at the global scenario, the total infections surpassed the mammoth 95 lakh-mark, while the fatalities were more than 4.8. The US Continues to be the worst-affected nation in the world with more than 24 lakh infections and 1.24 lakh fatalities.
