AP Intel Busy With Telangana Polls As Naxals Kill MLA

Update: 2018-09-24 07:01 GMT
What was the intelligence department of Andhra Pradesh doing when Naxals were planning to kill Paderu MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and former MLA S Somu? The Naxals have planned things in great detail and did a recce of the MLA's movements for quite sometime. The MLA himself was aware of these things and has shifted his family to Visakhapatnam. He himself moved to the ITDP guesthouse in Paderu, which is safer and well-protected. So, it is unlikely that the intelligence department was unaware of the threat perception for the MLA.

Insiders say that the whole intel wing of AP is now busy in Telangana. It is gathering information about the political mood in the poll-bound state. The intel personnel have been scouring Telangana hinterland for information about the political atmosphere. This has diverted their attention from Naxal related activities. Many insiders say this is mainly responsible for Sarveswara Rao's death.

Another interesting aspect is that a massive police recruitment is going on in North Andhra and the police officials of various stations were busy with this. As a result, there weren't enough cops to provide security to the MLA. As a result, he became a sitting duck for the Naxalites.
