Denial Of Visa For Pakistanis Costs India 'Olympics'

Update: 2019-02-23 07:04 GMT
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) barred India from hosting either Olympic Events or any other International Sporting Events after two Pakistani Shooters were denied visas to take part in the ISSF Shooting World Cup scheduled to begin from Saturday in New Delhi.

Post the Pulwama Terror Attack in which 40 CRPF Jawans were killed, Indian Government denied entry visas for the Two Pakistani Sportspersons. IOC issued a statement saying it has to take a tough stand after the last-minute efforts to find a solution hasn't yielded results. 'The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board suspended all discussions with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and Indian Government regarding the applications for hosting future Olympic-related and Sports events in India,' read the statement.

A direction has been passed to all International Sports Federations not to hold events in India or grant hosting rights to the tricolour nation until the Indian Government provides clear written guarantee over access for all Athletes.

This development is a huge setback to India. Applications moved by India to host Youth Olympics in 2026, Asian Games in 2030 and Summer Olympics in 2032 will be now kept on hold.
