Plane With 66 On Board Crashes Into Mountain

An Aseman Airlines Plane flying from Tehran to the Southwestern City of Yasuj disappeared from the radar for 50 minutes after the take-off. Later, Officials had confirmed passenger plane with 66 people on board crashing in a mountainous region of southern Iran, known as Dena Mountains. There were no survivors.

While Departure happened at 7:55 am, Crash happened in Kohangan Village which is 120 km away from Semirom Town. There are 60 passengers in the ill-fated plane. Two pilots, two flight attendants and two members of security forces are among the deceased.

The ATR Plane which is a twin-engine turboprop is usually preferred for short distance air travels.

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. He directed officials to spare no efforts in the rescue operation.
