Is Mamata Banerjee Trying To Retain Friendly Ties With BJP?

Update: 2022-09-02 13:26 GMT

Irrespective of their ideologies, the opposition parties have one thing in common which is the aim to defeat the mighty BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The recent Vice-President and Presidential polls saw political parties coming together. Though the opposition parties could not make a big impact they came under one roof.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is a fierce critic of the BJP would come in handy for the opposition parties in the Lok Sabha polls given the number of MP seats the party has. However, the Chief Minister stunned everyone with her statements.

Talking about the Hindu outfit Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Mamata said that all the people involved in the body are not bad and a few people from the body are not supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Without any doubt, her comments gave birth to a big political storm. The opposition parties lashed out at her over her comments. Hyderabad-based AIMIM asked her intent behind making such comments

Her comments even raised doubt on whether Mamata Banerjee wants to be close with BJP. The West Bengal Chief Minister might be a strong critic of the BJP and Prime Minister now. But in the past, Mamata has a strong association with BJP and she even served as the Cabinet Minister.

If we go back in time, Mamata Banerjee supported the BJP government during the time of Atal Behari Vajpayee. She was made the Union Cabinet Minister due to her alliance with the saffron party. All these things are in discussion now with the Chief Minister's comments.
