Is Minister Malla Reddy getting closer to BJP?

Update: 2022-12-26 06:26 GMT
Is maverick minister from Telangana Chamakura Malla Reddy planning to join the BJP? The Minister, who is currently facing ED and Income Tax probe, is said to be trying to explore the ways and means to escape from the money-laundering cases against him. As part of this, he is allegedly getting in touch with the BJP sources both in Telangana as well as New Delhi.

Highly placed sources say that KCR is aware of these moves. He is said to have kept a close tab on Malla Reddy's activities. He is also said to have asked his think-tanks to make an assessment of the impact on the BRS if and when Malla Reddy chooses to defect.  The party think tanks are already said to be on the job.

BRS sources also reveal that Malla Reddy is moving closer to the BJP for another reason. He is said to be upset at the way some of his own party MLAs and other leaders are opposing him. Malla Reddy has always faced dissent from within the party. First, it was former MLA of Medchal Malipeddi Sudheer Reddy. He mobilized several municipal chairpersons, ward councillors in Medchal district against Malla Reddy. Similarly, Malla Reddy's detractors have released several audio and videos purportedly of Malla Reddy's alleged nefarious activities.

As if this was not enough, five MLAs of Medchal Malkajgiri district led by Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao, have begun opposing him openly. Malla Reddy strongly feels that the BRS top boss and KTR are behind this move. As part of a counter-move, Reddy has begun courting the BJP, say sources. But, will the BJP accept Malla Reddy into its fold? Let's wait and see.
