Is this bureaucrat trying to enter politics?

Is Telangana health director Srinivas Rao planning to enter politics? Is he trying to contest from Kothagudem? Is this the reason why he is organising several programmes in the constituency and his banners and flexis dot the Kothagudem skyline? These questions are being asked not just in Kothagudem but also in the health department.

Srinivas Rao's posters and banners are all over the place in Kothagudem and he is organising some programme or the other in the constituency. There are rumours that he is desperately trying to get the TRS ticket for the 2023 assembly elections. Rao hails from Kothagudem region and has wide contacts in the constituency.

Some of his actions too add grist to the rumour mills. Recently when KCR inaugurated the e-learning classes in eight medical colleges online, Rao touched KCR's feet twice. This action has become controversial as Rao is a senior health official and is not expected to touch the feel of politicians. This has become a hot topic of discussion in both the district as well as in the department.

Former bureaucrat and Dalit activist Akunuri Murali took strong objection to these actions. He said this is so demeaning of the bureaucracy. He said the bureaucrats should not pander to the politicians and must be duty conscious. He expressed his dissatisfaction through a series of tweets and slammed Srinivas Rao for touching a politician's feet.
