Ever since Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that Vizag would house the executive capital of Andhra Pradesh, there is a furious debate about the possible site of the executive capital. Animated discussions are going on the possible sites for the capital city.
But, highly placed sources tell us that Mudasarlapalem, 25 km away from Vizag could be the site where the secretariat, assembly and mini Raj Bhavan would be constructed. Though the exact site would be decided on the basis of the recommendations of the Expert Committee that the Chief Minister is likely to appoint, Sources said that there are lot of government lands in and around Vizag City, but the 500-600 acres that is needed in one place is available at Mudasarlova.
Though port lands are available right in the city, the government officials felt that it would involve lot of procedural wrangles. The State Government has to approach the Centre to use those lands and give land in lieu of the port land to the Centre. Also the port area is highly produced and the ground water is too saline. Hence, Mudasarlova is being considered as the ideal place. There is also a possibility that the secretariat might still remain in Amaravati and an Assembly building and a mini-Raj Bhavan for the governorâs stay would be constructed at Mudasarlova.
