Is Thota Trimurthulu, the four-time MLA from Kapu community, emerging as the pointsman for the BJP in Andhra Pradesh? Of late, Thota Trimurthulu, who lost the recent elections, is very active in bringing together Kapu leaders. Already he has held a meeting of the Kapu MLAs in Kakinada, which, as per sources, primarily discussed the issue of joining the BJP. It was also said that BJP senior honcho Ram Madhav was directly in touch with Thota Trimurthulu even as the meeting was happening. Also, he has later held discussions with Ganta Srinivasa Rao, one of the very few Kapu TDP MLAs who have managed to win despite YS Jagan tsunami. Ganta and Thota discussed the issue of leaving the TDP. It is being strongly rumoured that Ganta has sought BJP legislature party leadership in lieu of leading the TDP MLAs into the BJP camp.
After this meeting, Thota chose to not to attend the TDP leader's meeting called by Chandrababu Naidu on his return from foreign vacation. Not just that, he also made critical comments against the TDP response to the demolition of the Praja Vedika, the illegally constructed convention centre on Krishna river bed. He said the TDP should not read too much into it and should not make it an issue as it was constructed in violation of the norms.
Clearly, the Kapu strongman seems to be emerging as the pointsman for the Kapu community on any issue.
