In the recent past, Indian IT Firms have sacked thousands of employees citing poor performance. This include Wipro, Cognizant, Infosys and Tech Mahindra. The forum representing IT Employees has sought State Governments to intervene in the issue.
Telangana IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao downplayed the layoffs saying it's a common practice followed by IT Companies to meet client needs and remain competitive. 'Layoff aren't happening for the first time. It happens every year,' he said.
KTR claimed exports of IT and IT-enabled Services for the financial year 2016-17 from Hyderabad alone touched Rs 75,000 crore. He declared Growth Rate of Telangana IT Exports is much better than National average.
