IT raids again on firms close to TRS: Is BJP implementing Bengal strategy?

Update: 2022-03-24 06:23 GMT
The ruling TRS in Telangana is worried over the spate of IT raids on infra firms involved in the construction of the irrigation projects in the state. On Wednesday, raids were conducted on the firms involved in the construction of Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. The firms targeted are: KNR Infra, Gaja Engineering, RVR and EVR.

Interestingly, all these firms are considered quite close to the TRS establishment.  Few of them are in fact owned by the TRS leaders. Though there is no official confirmation, the four firms are said to have admitted to evading taxes worth several hundreds of crores.

Sources also said that KNR Infra's Jalandhan Reddy and Narsimha Reddy have admitted that they had evaded taxes. The Central agencies targeted companies involved in tunnel, canal and lift irrigation canal construction companies. The KNR Infra was raided a few days ago also. In Wednesday's raids, KNR Infra admitted to evading taxes worth Rs 150 crore, Gaja Engineering Rs 50 crore and the RVR Rs 60 crore. The officials seized a large cache of documents and froze unspecified amounts.

TRS sources feel that the raids have a hidden political agenda of stopping the flow of funds for the TRS. Recently, even KCR had said that he would not be cowed down by such raids. The TRS feels that the BJP is adopting Bengal type strategy to weaken the TRS.
