Union Law and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad declared IT Sector will create 25 to 30 lakh jobs by 2025. He also denied downward trend in the employment though all the leading IT Firms served pink slips to thousands of staff post the end of financial year 2016-17.

The Union Minister informs Indian IT Firms recruited 6 lakh employees in the past three years. 'Currently, IT Companies provides employment to 40 lakh people directly and another 1.3 crore people were employed indirectly. Introduction of BPOs in towns is a good sign,' he says.
Nasscom predicts creation of 20 to 25 lakh IT jobs in the next 4-5 years. About 1.75 to 2 lakh people will end up losing jobs annually for the next three years because of their inability to adapt to new technologies.
