It's Padayatra time in Telangana. Yes. You heard it right. The Congress Party, who popularity graph is sliding faster than a meteor, is trying hard to stay afloat. As part of it, several of its leaders have launched Padayatras in their respective areas of influence.
While the party does not have a charismatic leader like YSR to undertake a state-wide Padayatra, the local leaders are trying to take out padayatras in their respective areas. Though elections are still three years away, the Congress has decided to organize padayatras to retain its support base. Key leaders like Revanth Reddy, Jagga Reddy and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka have decided to take to padayatras. MP Revanth Reddy has launched his padayatra from Achampet, while CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has launched his padayatra from Bhimsari in Adilabad district. Turpu Jaggareddy is also planning to undertake a padayatra from Sadashivpet to Pragathibhavan. Not to be left behind, even TRS MLA from Kollapur, Harshvardhan Reddy has just completed his yatra.
Meanwhile, entry of YS Sharmila too might lead to a padayatra in Telangana. He had earlier undertaken a padayatra in Telangana and is likely to take up another padayatra soon. In 2012, she undertook a padayatra for 230 days and covered 3000 km. So, watch out for a spate of padayatras in Telangana in the days to come.
