AP CM Y.S. Jagan, who has decided to utilize the flood water that goes into the ocean, has introduced another project. The government is making a DPR (Detailed Project Report) for transferring the Godavari water from the Polavaram project to Basakacharla Cross Regulator.
The government has a plan of storing 210 TMCs of water by transferring 2 TMCs of water for 105 days. With this, almost 9.61 lakhs of acres will be standardized under the right canal of Nagarjuna Sagar. During the second stage, almost 2 lakh acres in Darsi and Kanigiri constituencies in Prakasham district will be provided water. This project aims to fulfill the water needs of Guntur and Prakasham districts.
On the other hand, the Bollapalli Balancing reservoir will fulfill the water needs of the regions that depend on Pulichintala and Nagarjuna Sagar. The capacity of the right canal of Polavaram will be increased and daily 2 TMCs of Godavari water will be transferred to the Krishna river. Through reverse pumping, that water will be sent to Pulichintal and from there, the water will be sent to the Nagarjuna Right canal.
CM Jagan held a meeting with the Water resources department on two plans of transferring Godavari water from Polavaram to Basakacharla regulator. They want to use every drop of the floodwater. Jagan told his dream to fulfill the water needs of the regions. To make this happen, CM ordered the officials to prepare a DPR. Based on those details, the government will proceed further.
