Kadapa is Jagan's home turf. But for the first ever time, the tide seems to be turning against him. Banners and posters saying "adieu Jagan" and "Bye Bye Jagan" are being seen everywhere. The people are slamming YS Jagan and the YSRCP government on the issue of the carving out of new districts.
This is a development that surely has taken even YS Jagan by surprise. The well-meaning decision to divide Kadapa into two districts seems to be boomeranging on YS Jagan. The district has been divided into Annamayya district and YSR district. While there is no dispute over YSR district, the problem is with the Annamayya district.
Rayachoti has been made the district headquarters for the Annayamma district. The people are opposing this. The people say that the district headquarters is far too removed from the centre and visiting it would be a logistical nightmare.
Sources say that Rayachoti was made the district headquarters only to placate local MLA Gadikota Srikanth Reddy. Sources say Jagan took this decision to give a feel-good feeling to Gadikota, who was sulking at not being made a minister. But, now even the YSRCP leaders are unhappy with the decision and are raising their voice against Gadikota Srikanth Reddy.
