Jagan writes another letter to Modi seeks appointment over Vizag Steel point row
Without taking the sentiments of the people in Andhra Pradesh and the ongoing agitations into consideration, the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going forward with its decision to privatize the Vizag Steel plant.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman replied to a question in Lok Sabha that the steel plant will be privatized and the Centre has decided to Disinvestment the government's stake in the steel plant.
Following Sitharaman's announcement, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to oppose the centre's decision. This is the second letter Jagana has written to PM in this regard.
In the letter that is going rounds on social media, the Chief Minister had requested an appointment with Narendra Modi. Jagan expressed his dissatisfaction over the centre not considering his suggestions he gave in the previous letter.
The Chief Minister had also observed that the Centre's decision would hurt the sentiments of the people of Andhra Pradesh and said the sentiments of people are attached to the Vizag Steel Plant.
In the previous letter, Jagan Mohan Reddy had made three suggestions to PM Modi to save the steel plant from privatization Miles allocation in Odisha, conversion of bank debts to equity, and selling the surplus land of the steel plant are Jagan's suggestions. Sadly, the Centre did not consider any suggestions.
The ongoing protests against the Centre's decision on the Vizag Steel plant intensified after Nirmala Sitharamn said the government's stake will be disinvested in Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL).
